POWER & INSTALLATIONS
EV charger installation
Come home. Plug in. Be ready.
Charger selection, capacity checks and a practical plan for charging at home.
Project planning enquiries are welcome. Regulated electrical installation work is subject to confirmation of the licensed contractor and required permits before booking.

Home charging should fit the way you park and the distance you drive. Start with the vehicle, the parking space and your existing electrical system—not simply the highest-powered charger on the shelf. Discuss your EV project with Stark Electric before buying equipment so the installation can be scoped around your property.
WHAT THE PROJECT CAN INCLUDE
What your project can include.
BEFORE WORK BEGINS
Before work begins.
Check the electrical starting point
Panel space and available electrical capacity are different questions. The assessment needs to consider existing loads and future equipment, such as a heat pump or hot tub. A panel photo helps with an initial conversation but cannot replace the assessment.
Plan the route to the vehicle
Distance from the electrical supply, finished walls, underground work and outdoor exposure affect the installation. Keep the charging cable out of walkways and consider how cars will park day to day.
Confirm approvals before work
EV installations need the appropriate electrical permitting. Victoria has its own permitting authority; requirements elsewhere depend on jurisdiction. Strata consent and electrical permits are separate steps. Check current rebate eligibility directly with BC Hydro before purchasing.
SCOPING YOUR PROJECT
What affects the quote?
Charger hardware, wiring distance, wall access, trenching, mounting, load management and permit requirements all influence the quote. Charging speed also depends on the vehicle and equipment settings; a larger charger does not guarantee faster charging in every installation.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Know what to expect.
Do I automatically need a 200-amp service?
No. The electrical load assessment determines the options. Load management may suit some properties; other installations need additional electrical work. Service size alone is not enough to decide.
Should I buy a charger first?
It is better to confirm the connector, equipment approval, electrical requirements, mounting location and any rebate conditions first. Send the product link with your enquiry.
Can the charger go outdoors?
Potentially, with equipment rated for the location and an appropriate installation. Exposure, cable storage, mounting and the route from the electrical supply need to be assessed.
Can you quote from a photograph?
Photos are useful for initial scoping. Site conditions, capacity and the final wiring route may need an in-person assessment before the installation price is confirmed.
